Houston will see a wide release of RADiUS/TWC’s horror film It Follows. The film will be playing in 31 theaters over several chains, including Cinemark, AMC, Regal, Santikos, Sundance, and Studio Movie Grill.
It Follows is about 19-year-old Jay (Maika Monroe). After a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she suddenly finds herself plagued by nightmarish visions; she can’t shake the sensation that someone, or something, is following her. As the threat closes in, Jay and her friends must somehow escape the horrors that are only a few steps behind.
It Follows is written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, whose first feature was 2010’s The Myth of the American Sleepover, which praised by critics, and was listed as one of the top five films of the year on “Ebert Presents: At the Movies.” The film stars Maika Monroe, who was in last year’s genre-bending action thriller The Guest, and appeared in 2013’s Labor Day and The Bling Ring. The film also features Keir Gilchrist, who starred in Showtime’s The United States of Tara, and Daniel Zovatto, who made his debut in last year’s YA adaptation Innocence.
It Follows is produced by David Kaplan among others, who previously produced the acclaimed Short Term 12 as well as Obvious Child. The film features an electronic score by composer Disasterpiece in his first theatrical score.
It Follows opens in Houston on Friday, March 27th.
