Screen Gems’ Pride & Prejudice & ZombiesPride and Prejudice and Zombies opens nationwide this Friday, with early showings beginning Thursday, February 4th at 7:00pm.
The film is based on the Quirk Books novel of the same name by Seth Grahame-Green, which takes the original Jane Austen novel, and adds zombies, ninjas, and martial arts mayhem.  The screenplay is adapted by Burr Steers, who is also the film’s director.  Steers made his debut with the indie dark-comedy Igby Goes Down, and went on to helm 2009’s 17 Again and 2010’s Charlie St. Cloud.
Lily James stars as the film’s protagonist, Elizabeth Bennet.  James previously starred as the title character in Disney’s live-action version of Cinderella.  Sam Riley portrays her romantic interest, Mr. Darcy.  No stranger to horror films, Riley appeared in Neil Jordan’s vampire movie Byzantium, and also recently appeared in Disney’s Maleficent.
Rant About Film shall have a review of the film following its theatrical release.
