“Spotlight” expands to ~1,000 screens.

SpotlightFollowing its Oscar win for Best Picture, Spotlight expands to about 1,000 theaters nationwide this Friday.  The film is about the Boston Globe’s 2001 investigation into the archdiocese sex abuse scandal.  Spotlight beat fellow nominees The RevenantThe MartianMad Max:  Fury RoadRoomBrooklyn, and The Big Short for the award.
     The films stars Michael Keaton, Liev Schreiber, and Stanley Tucci, as well as Mark Ruffalo and Rachel McAdams, who were nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress.  The film is directed by Tom McCarthy, who was nominated for Best Director, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Josh Singer, which won the Academy Award for Best Screenplay.
     Spotlight will expand to the following AMC locations in Houston:  Studio Theater 30, Willowbrook Cinema 24, Deerbrook Mall Cinema 24, Gulf Pointe 30, Fountains/Houston Cinema 18, First Colony 24, and Katy Mills Cinema 20.
